Countachs Daddy

Italian styling house Bertone may have had a hand in the stunning Lamborghini Miura, but they may have also influenced the iconic Lamborghini Countach. Their Bertone Carabo, based on an Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale with a mid-mounted V8 engine, was unique in many ways, but one in particular; scissor doors.

The concept car was unveiled way back in 1968, some six years before the Countach graced the world with its existence.

It was delicious in its own way, the green and orange paintwork contrasting brilliantly with those space-age lines.

Fat wheels, scissor doors, pointy nose and rear window slats; the Carabo is the epitomy of 60s cool. In fact, you could argue that it has a very 70s vibe too…and wouldn’t look out of place in the 80s.

Anyone else think that it also looks like it could have influenced the awesome car/space ship from the 1980s movie The Last Starfighter?
